She left campus and went to Central Avenue to shop and go tanning at the Tanning Hut in preparation for a Spring Break trip to Florida. She was last seen around 7:20pm.
There is a cut through road between SUNY campus and Central Ave. It is called Fuller Road. It can often get dark and has much less activity once you pass the ramp to Interstate 90 and the Northway. That can be an easy location to abduct anyone who is walking on that road.
Authorities gave a sketch of a man (never identified) who was seen in that area around the time of her disappearance.
Karen’s parents do not think she is alive.
