The story of Cicily and Greg

image

This is Cicily and Greg.

I first became familiar with one of them when I was in my front yard of our first house that Steve and I lived in, back in 2006 (I think). We used to live in the Roosevelt Park neighborhood/area in Kingston . It was common for me to be outside with my kids and I would often see this very “content looking” dad jogging  by my house…pushing a jogger stroller. There was always a sleeping kid inside the stroller. Turns out…. it was Greg pushing that stroller. Obviously, he lived somewhere in the hood .

As time went on, I  got to formally meet both Cicily and Greg at T-Ball practice or some little league related event. I learned that they have 2 sons; Jackson and Wilson. They mentioned they had moved up to the Hudson Valley in recent years from New York City.

I eventually saw that Cicily also enjoyed jogging in the neighborhood. I don’t think she liked pushing the jogger stroller. I don’t recall ever seeing her pushing it.

Our boys were the same age as their boys, so we started seeing each other around randomly with the kids. (school, park, little league, etc)

Eventually, I became friends with Cicily on Facebook.

When I became FB friends with Cicily , it helped me to know more about her and her family.

Here is what I learned:

I learned that the family likes Hockey and the boys play lots of hockey with Greg.

Cicily is involved with The Junior League of Kingston.

Their family is very active.

Fitness is an important part of Cicily and Gregs’ lives.

Typical family?  Yes, in a way…

But, not really.

There’s more…….

  • Cicily comes from a biracial family and her family was featured in a PBS documentary in 1999 about their experiences as a biracial family. It was called “An American Love Story”

  • Cicily has a father and sister in a famous Blues band (Heritage Blues Orchestra). This band was nominated for a grammy award a few years ago. Cicily flew out to LA with her family (her parents still live in NYC) and it was sooo exciting to follow her travels on Facebook. Fun to see the timeline of getting ready for the show and walking the red carpet and taking pictures from her seat in the auditorium…. All going down “live” while I was also watching it on TV.

  • Cicily and Greg met on a blind date. They were set up by a friend. The story of their dating and engagement was written up in the NEW YORK TIMES.

( I will post the link to the online version at the end of my blog story so you can read it. It’s such a great story of how they met and became engaged. A MUST READ !!)

After knowing this info about Cicily and Greg, I had a few questions for them.

So, I decided to ask Cicily to answer these 3 questions.

1. When did you move to Kingston?

2. Why did you decide to move here?

3. What made you choose the house and neighborhood you are in?

Here was her response:

We moved here in October 2002. After September 11th, I just couldn’t see staying in the city. I lost my best friend who managed Windows on the World and a good family friend who just happened to be there that day. At the time anywhere you went in NYC and the boroughs you were met with the faces of all the victims in the form of posters of those who we thought were missing, these posters became semipermanent memorials. It was really too much for me to bear. For many years after moving up here, visiting the city still felt like going to a memorial.

Greg was already working in the Hudson Valley organizing healthcare workers for 1199 (Union), so he was commuting from Queens. I was the one that never wanted to move, until 9/11. We chose the Roosevelt Park neighborhood, because it was centrally located, and as a true New Yorker, I didn’t know how to drive. There is nothing like taking driving lessons with your 2 year old in the back seat! So the neighborhood was great, accessible for me, walkable distance to stores and other things.

Cicily’s answers to my questions absolutely blew me away. I had no idea about the 9/11 story. I had no idea she lost her best friend. That is so sad…I am sure that has been the guiding force in her raising her children and being a great wife and mom.

And I can just picture little Jackson  in the back seat of the driving school car as Cicily was learning how to drive. I love it!

When you are around Cicily and Greg, it is obvious they are a beautiful couple that give off a good vibe. Their family is beautiful (inside and out). Their 2 boys are amazing. They are extremely talented and well rounded. I could actually write an entire blog story about their boys.

I am so glad that I chose to write about Cicily and Greg

Here is their New York Times story……Read it, you’ll be glad you did…

Thank you, Cicily and Greg, for letting me share your story and use the pictures that I took off of Facebook. Everyone has a story and yours is really pretty awesome.

Dave vs. Pain

image

This is Dave …

I remember Dave when I was in elementary school. We lived in the same general (Meagher School) neighborhood.  He lived on a street where there were AT LEAST 25 kids around the same age who played out in the streets all day until the streetlights popped on. They all played at the same little league. The parents were all friends.  You can’t find neighborhoods like that anymore.

I never knew Dave all that WELL. We knew each others names and would say hi when we saw each other. I don’t think it went beyond that….

I remember, once, I stopped by his house with a friend just to say hi when we were in our early teens. I remember he had a swimming pool in his back yard . For some reason I recall he drove a green car in high school. I remember he had a younger brother and his parents were the type that were always there for all his important life stuff. I always remember they looked very cute together.

I remember even more clearly that he loved all the heavy metal bands in the 80s and he loved music and guitars.. all high school memories….

I also remember very clearly when someone had told me he and his girlfriend were expecting a baby when we were all still teenagers. 16 years old, I believe.

Well, years went by…. I don’t really know what became of Dave other than I was pretty sure he was still around town and he married the mother of his child.

Fast forward to the years of Facebook. Dave and I became Facebook friends a few years ago. That’s really when I got to “catch up” on Dave and what he’s up to these days.

I learned that he was still married to his sweetheart from high school. … the mother of his child… How cool is that … A success story. They raised their daughter and sent her off to college.  I don’t think I have ever heard of a couple having a child that young and staying together all these years.

He still loves his guitars and still remains good friends with all of his high school buddies. They all rallied together a few years back when their fellow band mate and best friend died way too young. I think Jason’s death will haunt every single one of them forever. I also get the impression that it has created a tighter bond between all of them ..These guys have been buds for 20-30 years …

I learned he has some really cute dogs that he adores.

He had surgery on his spine recently ..

He definitely hates certain things (ie; cancer and a particular car dealership)  ….for good reason…. and he definitely reminds us of his hate for those things .

A “man’s man” who loves his music and has a “don’t mess with me” attitude.

I did notice a softer side of Dave when his daughter gave birth to his first grandchild… and then a second…

Well, Dave likes to give ME a hard time about my favorite things I like to post about on Facebook… “Always Target, Starbucks, running, and your family… ” Dave always busting my chops because he’s a “tough guy”….

So, I decided to ask him 3 questions..

1. Who inspires you most?

2. Why?

3. What are you most afraid of ?

Here’s his response….

Hahahah. So do you want serious answers or fun answers. So many ways I can go with this.

What inspires me most. Hmmm. Well some would say guitars, EVH, Van Halen or music gear. And that would most definitely be true. Nothing makes me happier and makes the pain go away for a minute like buying a guitar, especially something beat up and making it like new again. But my true inspiration is my wife. She’s my rock. Keeps me going. Life hasn’t been so great since the first surgery in 2005. While I was the provider when we got pregnant at 16 and had to get her through all the years of college and her masters, she is now the provider when I can’t really do so much. She hasn’t stopped and blinked once. Never complains. Carrys the heavy stuff at sams club and shoots dirty looks back at the others when they snicker and see me just standing there. She never complains about the guitars. Or the gear. And let me tell YA. We have a lot. Lol. Too much. She spoils me rotten. And now to see her at her happiest with two perfect grandchildren. It’s pretty amazing. A life of pain and not being able to do much with it, suddenly changed when the first little perfect one came along. Then number two. Nothing makes us happier and in return nothing makes me happier than to see Nona or even just hear Avery (granddaughter) call her Nona. Or my name Baba??? Which started as GRUMPA but easily changed to Baba and stuck. Suddenly the GRUMPA didn’t fit anymore as that attitude went out the door the first day I saw her. So yeah. The wife inspires me each and every day. To keep on doin. Keep playing music. Keep the dream alive even though we are both smart enough to realize that part of life’s dream is not going to happen. But ya know what? She makes me a rockstar. 24/7. That’s good enough for me. (As long as I can keep the guitar collection). And no. I still won’t count them. Nope. Don’t wanna know. Never enough. That’s how many.

What am I most afraid of. Hmmm. Well it’s two part. One would be the wife dying. Don’t want to do this without her. The other part … The wheelchair. It’s coming. Sooner or later this shitty disease (mitochondrial disease) will over take my life like it has my dad. Some said I would be in one by now. I say f. U.!! Not ready. Got shit to do. Grandkids to play with. So everyday I get up and gets harder and harder. Everyday I have to wonder “is this the day”. Each time I get stuck on toilet or stuck out in public and can’t walk , I have to wonder. Hmmm is this the day? Between the craziest neck in the world, the worst spine ever and this crappy disease , it will sooner or later catch up to me. Until then. F U. I’m doin stuff.

Wow – Can you imagine ? His response is so touching and inspiring ..Archie Bunker showing his true colors. A sweet guy who’s in a lot of pain but is able to overcome it the best he can because of his love for his wife, his daughter, his grand children , his music and his guitars. He fights  A LOT of pain and I had no idea how bad it was/is….Pain can make a person miserable but Dave refuses to let that beat him right now . He’s a pretty awesome guy, if you ask me…

Thanks for agreeing to do this, Dave …And you are definitely a Rock Star .

PS- Dave is in a gospel band at a local church (and I NEED to go check that out)…When I learned that about him .. It really showed me his true character …

The Dread-mill

When I first started this blog  I didn’t want to write about running. I post a lot about it on Facebook. I don’t want to be redundant. But, today I decided I have many things I need to write about pertaining to running that I don’t really write about on FB .. So, here is 1…

“The Dread-mill…”

I don’t own a treadmill. I don’t enjoy running on one. The reasons are :: that it’s just too boring for me to stay in one location. I need things to look at. Also, because the belt on the machine spins around, it’s like the ground is moving FOR me. It throws off my “gait” and I just don’t enjoy it.

The other problem is.. Winter.. in New York. It’s cold and it’s icy on the roads. It’s dark outside in the early morning and in the early evening.

The motivation factor for running outside disappears with cold and ice and darkness.

In order to keep up with my routine , I have to pick one .. Treadmill (at the gym) or outside …

That leads to the question… Why do I even  run? Most people can’t stand it .. They hate  everything about it  …

The reasons why I run have changed over the years. I first started out running when I was 30 years old. I needed to get in shape, desperately . I ran for that reason only ..Over the years the reasons have changed . It became fun to me and turned into the addiction to the “high” that I feel from running. It has also become a social event since I have some very dear friends who run. We use this time to be with each other , motivate each other , and catch up in each other’s lives. Not to mention .. Steve also runs and it’s another thing we have in common to talk about and that we can do together .. Thanks to him – because he helped me get started 15 years ago ..

It also makes me feel like I really accomplished something when I am done. How can you not feel proud after doing a  20 mile run on a Sunday morning? A sense of pride is definitely part of it.

Over the years it has also progressed into a “control” thing. Life is filled with things that you can’t control. Running, to me, is the one thing I feel like I have control over. Everyone needs at least one thing in their lives to feel like they can control.

That is why I freak out when I get hurt. I feel like I have lost control of something really big .. I hate that feeling !

Back to the treadmill – AKA dread-mill..

Sometimes I have no choice but to get on the treadmill. It’s just how it is .. I just can’t go out in that snow and ice and cold.

So, here are the tricks I use to get thru a run on the treadmill …

1. Use the most awesome music playlist you have.

2. Wear a heart rate monitor. Try turning up the speed on the treadmill and see how high you can get your heartrate and how long you can keep that speed up.

3. Do intervals. Watch the timer on the treadmill. Turn the speed up by 3 notches and hold it for a minute, then go back down 2 notches for a minute. Up 3 for a minute, down 2 for a minute. Until you max out .. Use that “ladder effect” to trick yourself into running faster. It works…And most importantly it makes the time go by faster.

4. Get a friend to join you . It helps .

5. It’s also fun to ” people watch.”. If you are running at a gym treadmill.

That is basically it…

The treadmill…

Just suck it up and deal with it …

Pain meds

This is a story that happened back in 2005.

Our 4th child, William, was born on October 20th, 2005. I gave birth via C-section (as I did with the other 3 kids). With a C-section, you get some strong pain meds through the IV while you’re in the hospital. Then, when you leave, the Dr.  gives you a script for pain meds to take at home if you need them.

I filled the script the day we left the hospital.

Historically…..with all 4 C-sections, I never really needed to take the prescribed pain medication for more than 2 days .I would switch over to Tylenol after the 2nd day being home and all was good.

So, here I am at home. The second day home.  I took pain meds as scheduled all day and remember thinking I would switch over the next morning to Tylenol.

I felt totally fine. No pain and no dizziness. I was walking around fine. People had always commented on how quickly I bounced back from my C-sections. I was happy to have the baby home and ecstatic that we had our cute little family at home settling in nicely… Happy , Happy !!!

Because I felt so normal, I decided it would be a “wonderful” idea to venture out to Walmart. (In hind site – yes I was just sliced open , major surgery just a few days earlier and I think it’s a good idea ).Steve got home from work and I told him I wanted to drive to Walmart to get a few groceries, some diapers, and a few other items that the older kids needed. After all, I felt fine. Steve was ok with it as long as I felt ok.

Off I went, alone,  in the family mini van. , took pain meds all day long …Once I got on to the main road headed towards Walmart, I started to feel paranoid. I realized then that I really should not be driving. I felt mostly in control, but that little bit of foggy feeling started to come over me. I was adding more effort to my driving as to not swerve, etc.

I was relieved when I arrived safely to the Walmart parking lot. I walked inside the store and grabbed a cart.

I was on a mission. Get the stuff I need, pay, and get my butt home.

I started down the isles. First on the list…DIAPERS… I knew right where the diapers were and headed that way. I started to make a right turn with my shopping cart into the diaper isle… I totally misjudged the turn and knocked over a cardboard display case. Stuff fell over. I had to quickly pick it all up … Ok. I did that and then I got the heck out of that area. At this point, I was thinking..” should I ask Steve to come get me? No… I can do this on my own…”

After the diapers….. Next on the list, some food. So, I go over to the grocery section. Those isles are nice and wide and open. I turned into the potato chips isle and thankfully did not take down any end cap displays.  I proceeded to walk straight down the isle and I saw a woman walking toward me with a shopping cart.  I thought I had plenty of room to clear her cart… But I didn’t. I clipped the corner and had a mini head-on grocery cart collision with her.. I acted surprised and apologized to the woman.. “Oh, how embarrassing  !!” I  grabbed the food I needed and then I moved quickly out of THAT isle…

Last on the list, little stretchy gloves for my 2 young  girls. (They told me their hands were cold at the bus stop and so we needed them)….. I had to take my cart into the maze that they call the “little girls department”. Steering that shopping cart onto the carpeted area and around all these round, overfilled, clothing racks. I was working my way to the gloves…

Up until then, I really didn’t have to TALK to anyone (with the exception of saying sorry to the lady that I clipped with my grocery cart).

So, I’m perusing through and find the little girls stretchy gloves.  Then, I hear “HI COLLEEN !!” (OH NOOOO)….I look up. It’s an acquaintance of mine. She says “Wait, didn’t you just have a baby… What are you doing out already?”….   I replied “Oh, yeah…. I feel fine… I’ve got these great pain pills and I am doing great”…. Based on all the other stuff I had just gone thru, I was most likely  slurring my speech,too..   Oh mannn… that was very awkard….

I finally finish that short conversation and got everything on my list…

Next…..I HAD to pay and get myself home…

I remember paying for all the stuff and then driving home. I was super, extra careful while driving..

I was relieved when I safely pulled into my driveway…

What the heck was I thinking? I should have NEVER went out. I definitely switched to Tylenol after that. I’ll never forget that experience.

I am grateful nothing terrible happened that night.

Chinese Food….Where to find the best of what you’re craving….And a story, too…

For those of you who live in the Hudson Valley…..You know there are SEVERAL Chinese restaurants. Every so often, I get a hankering for Chinese and …. depending on what I am craving… I have my favorite restaurants. Please feel free to post below whether you agree and some special menu items that you like from a particular Chinese place…

1. General Chao Chicken – My favorite is from “C Gourmet” on Albany Ave. near Chambers School. (Kingston)

2. Egg Rolls – By FARRR the best are from ENGS on Broadway. (Kingston)

3. Crab Rangoon appetizer – My favorite is from Wing Shui on North Front St. (Kingston)

4. Fried Rice – I like fried rice from “C Gourmet” and Engs. They are both really yummy.

5. If you want a different, more FRESH tasting Chinese, try China Rose.. (on Albany Ave. across from Dunkin)…Everything there makes you feel good about what you’re eating. Nice, freshly prepared food … Different but DELICIOUS !!!! Is it still called China Rose? It may have changed names but the food is still amazing.

6. My sister is a vegetarian and she loves the Spicy Bean Curd from Wing Shui.

7. Sweet and Sour Chicken – Not sure who has the best… When I was a kid, the best was the Kingston Tea Garden uptown on Wall St., Kingston. … They had the best everything !!… But they have been closed for many years.

8. Many people like Spicy Chicken and Broccoli. I think many places make it good, but haven’t found the BEST..

Please comment below about what and where your favorites are….I love trying new places and new menu items…

Oh, I also have a Chinese Restaurant story…. This was way back in 1988 ( I was 17 at the time). There were a few Chinese restaurants around town that were not strict about asking for ID when someone ordered an alcoholic beverage. Well, my high school friends and I found the places that had that reputation and would go and enjoy an evening of Whiskey Sours and Mai Thais with dinner.. On a side note, if my own kids ever try this… = NOT GOOD..I would freak.

One place we went to was called Panda restaurant. You may remember it was near IHOP . Actually Starbucks probably sits on that very location now. That building was knocked down a long time ago . Anyway, we went there one night and we all put in our orders of Mai Thai’s  with our meals.. There was about 8 or 10 of us girls, all in our late teens…. We got our dinner and drinks..Sitting at a big round table.. We were living high on the hog.., doing “cheers”, acting all cool and what not, .. We eventually put in an order for a second or third round…..Then…. We looked over and saw the owners talking to a person that was whispering to them… It all looked very suspicious to us. It appeared the owner’s young daughter was telling them something.. Well, it turns out….What she pretty much was whispering to her parents went a little something like this…. ” Mom and Dad, I see ALL of those kids in my classes at high school.”.. Well, the owner proceeded to come over to our table and say ” My daughter see you in high school. No more drink for you, You too young” . We awkwardly finished up, paid our bill, and left.

Well, there went THAT hot spot..

We eventually found a new one .. “The Dragon” restaurant in Saugerties.  Then, that place proceeded to burn down…”The Dragon” had REALLY GREAT Mai Thai’s!!!…

We eventually turned 21 and didn’t have to do that anymore ..Oh, those were the days….

Cell phone friend, Karen

This story starts about 4 months ago.. In October… Our daughter, Julia, was involved with the Kingston High School marching band. She was part of a small group of people that were in charge of moving the SET PROPS around the field during each marching band competition and performance. (For those of you not familiar with Kingston High School marching band…They are good. They travel all over the state to compete… and often win the competitions. )

Kingston High School hosts a competition of their own in Kingston..  It’s called “Fall Fan Fare”. Held at a local stadium (Deitz Memorial Stadium) and school marching bands from all over the state show up to compete. It also brings all the family members to spectate. So, the place was packed!! People sitting .. people standing… everywhere…

My mother-in- law…. and myself… and William ….went to see the performance. It was a beautiful, perfect fall day. We enjoyed the show/competition and then we went home.

When I walked in my door at home, my phone rang. It was my mother in law. She told me that she was carrying a tote bag at the stadium for the performance and it didn’t have a zipper closure on top…  wide open on the top… Turns out, when she got home and cleaned out the tote, there was a cell phone inside the bag. It was not hers. The phone must have fallen off the bleachers into her tote.

She called me right away because she figured she could give it to me and have Julia give it to the people in charge of band and can find the rightful owner. At this point, however,  I figured all the visiting cars / busses were rolling out of town back to their homes.

I drove over to  my mother-in-laws house to get the phone from her. We tried very quickly to see if there was a contact name in their for someone like:…. MOM, DAD, HOME or GRANDMA… There were none of those names listed !!!

Beyond that, I didn’t have time to play around with the phone. Also, it was a bit tricky for me. It was NOT an Iphone. I am only really familiar with iphones. When I eventually went back home, I just put the phone on my kitchen counter…until later when the kids could help me.

Later that night, everyone in the family was home. I glanced over and saw that phone on the counter… I had totally forgotten about it!!!!….And forgot to tell Julia about it earlier in the day.

JULIA is our cell phone expert. The girl is always on her phone. She knows phone tricks like no other…So, I handed her the phone and challenged her to find the owner.

Remember,… that stadium was PACKED with people…People from all over the state… It could belong to ANYONE.

The first step toward solving this .. Was..that we realized from the area code (315) that its owner probably lives in the Syracuse area. We also saw a few  texts filled with random innocent stuff and it became very  obvious that it was a teenager’s phone. Julia felt so guilty reading a few messages (because she is sweet like that) but had no choice so she could help figure out the MYSTERY.

Then, the biggest discovery of all..

Julia then mentioned that many of her OWN friend’s parents make them put parent “contact” info in the phone starting with the letter A  so that it’s the very first contact on the list.

Sure enough,  .., she looks in the contacts …and, ba-da-bing , there is “AAA Karen” and “AAA Jim”…  Julia said “I bet that’s the Mom and Dad, right there”.. It took her all of 10 seconds to figure that out.

It was about 8:30 at night at this point. I decided to use the found phone and dial the” AAA Karen” that was in the contacts. I heard a very happy voice answer her phone…. She obviously recognized the incoming phone number and was quite excited.

“Yes, that’s my daughter’s phone. We stayed around for an hour after the competition checking all the bleachers. We thought we would never find the phone, We live in Syracuse,…Thank you,… etc. etc..”

So, what happened was…. I wrote down Karen’s cell phone number and her address …The next day I packaged up the phone and mailed it out to Syracuse….. I proceeded to send Karen a text message saying the phone will arrive at her home on Wednesday…

Karen was so happy and appreciative.  She texted me the day that the phone arrived at her house to let me know it arrived and to thank me, again.

A few weeks after that, I received a letter in the mail.  Karen had sent me a visa gift card with a beautiful thank you note.

I get the impression that Karen is a busy person. We still text every few weeks to check in and say hello. Christmas Day I got a “Merry Christmas” text. I sent her a Hack family Christmas card and she sent one back to us. Hers was so cute. She sent her family holiday photo card and drew arrows on it with a pen… Arrows pointing to what kid is who.. She wrote “This is the girl that’s in marching band, and this is the girl who the phone belongs to”..

When I decided to write this story on my blog, it reminded me that we haven’t texted since Christmas. So, I just sent her one to check on her… Maybe I’ll tell her to follow my blog so she can read this story…Or maybe not.. That might look creepy.

Funny how you meet new friends.

When I entered her  info into my phone, I put her in my contacts as “CELL PHONE FRIEND, KAREN”

What we do, instead…

Our boys are picky eaters. (Probably my fault for spoiling them as babies and not forcing them to eat their broccoli) They don’t like meat or sandwiches or a bunch of other normal foods.. Not even PIZZA !!!!…They have a medium sized list of foods they DO like. I try to keep their favorite food in the house all the time.  What I am hoping is that the “teenage boy appetite” thing people talk about will happen to each of them and cure that problem……They are both healthy and growing nicely and so … it’s ok for now ….

Also, all 4 of the kids have some sort of evening activity randomly through the week.. Not to mention, Steve and I have random stuff going on as well.., We all tend to walk in the door and  eat dinner when we eventually get home from wherever we are.

As a result, we can not always sit down to eat a meal together.

There are nights that everyone is home together AND I prepare something for everyone all at once so we can sit down and eat together, but that is VERY rare.

What I am trying to get at .. is…It dawned on me the other day… Our family still hangs out around a table together .. or in a circle on the floor… all at once…..Usually right before bed.

What we do is….. We  sit around and play a few quick rounds of Uno, or Old Maid, or Banana Grams …

I didn’t say “Hey, since we can’t eat together, lets play games instead” It just started happening. .. The kids get games as gifts or whatever ..We keep a pile under a side table in our family room … and someone suggest we play.. and we all join in…Simple as that ..

No.. We don’t do this every night.  Maybe ..a few nights a week…

But ..It is so fun… We laugh a lot…!!!!!… And, we also learned that someone always has to strategically sit inBETWEEN  Bradley and William so they don’t argue over cheating or tease the person who has the old maid. etc…

It works for us…

I am glad that we do that because it sort of replaces that “sitting to eat as a family” thing.  And it might make you all feel better that… for other people… things don’t always have to be a certain way  ..

“Think outside the box”…Or in our case, the “outside of the box” sort of just happened on it’s own…

Something I noticed from afar……

A few years ago… I was on line at Target..

It was winter…

I had a huge cart of items (surprise, surprise).. Only 1 cashier.

There was a beautiful woman behind me with only one item in her hand. No shopping cart.

I asked her… “Do you want to cut in front of me?, I don’t mind” … She graciously declined.

I happened to glance at what was in her hand. It was very sexy lingerie. I figured she was being bashful and didn’t want to make a scene over undergarments… I totally get it.. Been there; done that… I still get embarrassed over buying feminine products…and underwear…

I knew the woman looked familiar, but I did not know her and I still don’t know her….

I did, however, recognize her a few days later at a different location.. and, of course, the first thought was ” Oh look, it’s the beautiful lingerie woman”… I started seeing her several times a week just randomly around town. I remember telling  my husband how I now see this woman in random places and the lingerie comes to mind.. I  wish I didn’t see that…

So, here’s the kicker….

Fast forward a few months…

The weather is lovely and warm…Everyone is in t-shirts enjoying the spring…, and I see this woman.. and…. she had a very distinct BABY BUMP..

I couldn’t wait to tell My husband about this… The lingerie woman was pregnant !!!

I remember thinking , “Well, if she had a purpose in mind that day,,, her plan worked”

Now I see she has a new little baby!!!

I saw it all go down from                              the BEGINNING…!!!
